As part of the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange programme, we coordinated Feel to Connect: EQ for Inclusion, a project that recognizes Emotional Intelligence (EQ) as a transformative tool in developing inclusive environments where young people from diverse backgrounds can thrive and connect meaningfully.
Through non-formal activities, intercultural evenings, reflection and collaborative co-creation, participants explored how emotional intelligence can help address challenges of exclusion, misunderstanding and conflict rooted in cultural differences and limited interpersonal skills.
The participants explored eight core topics:
Intercultural Connection & Team Dynamics
Building mutual trust and encouraging verbal and non-verbal expression in multilingual environments.
Foundations of Emotional Intelligence
Exploring the five primary components of EQ: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills.
Self-Awareness – Discovering You
Reflecting on personal values, emotional triggers, personal strengths and emotional habits.
Self-Regulation – Mastering You
Developing capacities for emotional control, stress reduction and healthy cognitive reappraisal through mindfulness, breath awareness and scenario role-playing.
Motivation – Defining Direction
Building resilience and establishing realistic goal-setting frameworks.
Empathy – Walking in Another’s Shoes
Developing cognitive and emotional empathy, dismantling stereotypes and exploring the realities of social exclusion and systemic discrimination.
Social Skills – Active Communication
Improving collaborative problem-solving, active listening and constructive verbal coordination within diverse groups.
Fostering Inclusion & Co-Creation
Applying EQ competencies to active community work and designing educational workshops that spread emotional intelligence for social inclusion.
Through the exchange, participants developed competencies to understand and manage emotions, build strong connections and foster inclusion across diverse backgrounds.
