My Dress, My Choice

As part of the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange programme, we co-organized My Dress, My Choice in Eger, Hungary, a project that recognizes sustainable fashion and cultural expression as powerful tools for youth empowerment, active citizenship, and environmental sustainability.

Through non-formal education, hands-on workshops, critical debates, and collaborative co-creation, participants explored the impacts of fast fashion, consumer habits, body image pressures, and clothing-based discrimination.

The participants explored six core topics:

Sustainable Fashion

Deepening comprehension of fast versus sustainable fashion and creating digital media campaigns advocating for ethical alternatives.

Consumer Habits

Examining the psychology behind compulsive shopping and overconsumption to design targeted social media awareness campaigns.

Cultural Identity Through Dress

Exploring cultural heritage, traditional garments, and personal identity through peer dialogue and original outfit illustrations.

Traditional & Modern Fashion

Analyzing historical fashion influences and designing minimalist capsule wardrobes to foster sustainable self-expression.

Circular Fashion & Upcycling

Gaining practical textile modification skills by redesigning thrifted clothes into new, wearable garments showcased on a collaborative runway.

Media and Body Image

Critically debating societal beauty standards, digital alteration, and diverse representation in mainstream fashion media.

Through the exchange, participants developed practical upcycling skills, critical media literacy, and ethical consumer habits to champion sustainability and inclusion within their local communities.
