The first stage of the “Policy Making Hackathon” project was successfully concluded, with the Advanced Planning Visit held from November 1–3 in Warsaw, Poland. The goal of this preparatory meeting was to finalize the details of the upcoming event in Budapest, where young people from Hungary, Poland, and Ukraine will collaborate to develop policy recommendations that will support youth entrepreneurship.

Organized by the Square of Youth Association (Fiatalok Tere Egyesület) in partnership with Wielki Świat Foundation from Poland and Satellite NGO from Ukraine, the Policy Making Hackathon aims to bring together young people aged 18–25 to examine the challenges and opportunities surrounding entrepreneurship. Participants will work in small, international teams to generate ideas that will contribute to a final policy document. This document will be addressed to local and regional stakeholders, ensuring that the voices and needs of young people are represented in policy discussions.

During the meeting in Warsaw, representatives from the three organizations established key guidelines for the hackathon. The group discussed the participant selection process, as well as created a skeleton of the policy document that will be worked out and completed with the contributions of the participants of the project in the second stage of the project. At the hackathon, participants will work across several thematic areas, such as economic, educational, and motivational aspects of entrepreneurship, while receiving guidance from mentors throughout the event.

The hackathon is scheduled to take place in Budapest in March 2025, and it will serve as a space for young people to share ideas and co-create. The final policy document will be sent to relevant stakeholders across the region to promote enhanced support for youth entrepreneurship and active youth engagement.
