The values behind Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is built on a set of shared principles that shape every project it supports. Understanding these values helps you know what to expect from a programme, and what the programme expects from you.

All projects must respect human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality and the rule of law. Funding can be withdrawn if a project or organisation fails to uphold them.

Projects are expected to incorporate sustainable practices, from choosing eco-friendly transport to designing activities that raise environmental awareness among participants.

Digital skills and tools are woven into the programme, from online language support before a mobility to virtual collaboration between partners across countries.

Multilingualism is a cornerstone of the programme. Language barriers should never stop anyone from participating, which is why linguistic support is built into mobility activities.

Skills gained through Erasmus+ are formally recognised through tools like Youthpass, Europass and the European Qualifications Framework, whether learned in a classroom or on a project.
